Written summary

Blue Spruce: a practical look at the upgrade

Tour Blue Spruce in White Rock, where WeTech replaced a legacy name-button audio intercom and key-based entrance with an Akuvox video intercom and modern resident access control.

Blue Spruce previously relied on an older wired audio intercom, physical keys and a name-button directory with paper resident labels. WeTech removed the legacy equipment and installed an Akuvox video intercom and access-control terminal on a clean stainless-steel retrofit plate.

The new system lets visitors search the digital resident directory, start a video call and speak with an authorized resident before the door is released. A unit can have up to four approved numbers configured for sequential calling or group calling, helping households avoid missed entrance calls.

Residents can create one-time QR codes or temporary numeric credentials for approved visitors and expected deliveries. Residents who do not use a smartphone can still receive an intercom call on a configured landline and press 9 to release the entrance.

The entrance station combines video intercom and access control in one device. Configured resident entry options include fobs, Bluetooth, NFC, mobile access and facial recognition. The walkthrough also demonstrates that an unregistered fob is denied, helping confirm that only credentials enrolled in the system can release the door.
