Resident and visitor floor access

Permissions can be different for residents, visitors, contractors and common floors.

How does a fob-controlled elevator enable selected floors?+

The reader sends a valid credential to the access controller, which activates only the approved floor relays or interface for a defined time. Permissions can be assigned by resident, role, schedule and common-area needs.

Can an intercom release only the visitor's destination floor?+

Yes, when the intercom, access controller and elevator interface support destination-floor release. The system should also define vestibule doors, multiple cars, call timing and what happens if the visitor enters the wrong elevator.

Can the same fob or phone work for doors and elevator floors?+

Yes, when the compatible credential is enrolled in the connected access plan. Door and elevator permissions can still be managed separately even when the resident carries one physical or mobile credential.

Can visitors or contractors receive temporary elevator access?+

Supported systems can pair a scheduled credential, QR code or PIN with approved doors and floors. Each permission should expire automatically and be limited to the required route and time.

Does the access log prove which floor a person visited?+

Not always. Some systems log only that a credential was presented at the elevator reader; confirming an actual floor selection requires the appropriate feedback or destination-dispatch integration.

Retrofit, coordination and emergencies

The security contractor should not independently modify regulated elevator safety equipment.

Can access control be added without replacing the elevator?+

Often, through an approved relay or manufacturer interface on a serviceable elevator system. The available interface, controller space, car count, floor count and elevator-contractor requirements must be confirmed first.

Who performs the elevator-side work?+

WeTech plans and supplies the access-control side, while the licensed elevator contractor normally provides or connects the approved elevator interface and confirms emergency operation. Responsibilities should be explicit in the proposal.

Can an old elevator relay board be reused?+

Possibly, after confirming ownership, documentation, capacity, condition, voltage and compatibility with the new access controller. Undocumented or unsupported interfaces may be more reliable to replace than to inherit.

What happens during fire service, emergency operation or a power failure?+

Required elevator emergency modes must override normal access restrictions as designed by the elevator and life-safety systems. The complete operation should be coordinated, commissioned and documented with the relevant contractors and authority requirements.

What affects the cost of elevator access control?+

Floor count, number of cars, relay or destination-dispatch interface, cabling path, elevator-contractor work, reader locations, visitor integration, schedules and commissioning all affect cost. A site and elevator-interface review is required before giving a defensible scope.
