Sir Philip: a practical look at the upgrade
Tour the Sir Philip retrofit in White Rock: a decades-old landline audio intercom replaced with video calling, configurable security alerts, flexible resident credentials and mobile control of the existing parkade gate while familiar keys and remotes remain available.
Sir Philip previously relied on an older landline-based audio intercom. Residents could answer a visitor from inside a suite and release the entrance, but they could not visually verify the caller or respond while away from the building. The retrofit adds live video calling and remote entry so residents can manage visitors and deliveries with more information.
The walkthrough also demonstrates security functions that go beyond visitor calling. Configurable motion and loitering rules can notify designated building personnel when someone remains near the entrance during selected hours. The entrance panel also includes tamper detection, an audible deterrent and a mobile notification if the panel is pulled away from its mounted base.
The installed platform combines video intercom and resident access control. Residents can use approved fobs, Bluetooth, NFC or mobile access, while conventional keys remain available. If a resident misses an intercom call, a visitor can leave a voice message that the resident can review through the application with the related visitor image.
At this property, available spare wiring from the previous installation allowed the existing parkade gate to be integrated with the lobby intercom. Residents can open the front entrance or gate from the mobile application while the existing gate remotes continue to work. Siri, CarPlay and location-based automation can also be configured for residents who choose those options. Wiring and equipment differ between properties, so every retrofit requires site-specific inspection and testing.
